Description:

In this role you would be responsible for leading the Finance Department for the Co-op by implementing financial strategies, programs and initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with management to ensure consistent alignment of financial programs and practices within the organization.

Financial Manager/Controller:

Responsibilities:
• Direct and oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the co-op
• Ensure the credibility of the organization’s finances by providing timely and accurate financial reports, analysis of budgets,    financial trends and forecasts
• Ensure that effective internal controls and compliance for applicable federal,provincial and local regulatory laws and rules       for financial tax reporting are in place
• Co-ordinate mid-year and year-end audits with external auditors
• Oversee all accounting operations – journal entries, write-offs,accounts payable/receivable,banking functions,cheque runs,      cash reports,GL balancing and equity management
• Preparing, analyzing and presenting financial reports
• Collaborating with management to prepare department budgets
• Liaison with financial institute representatives and vendors as required
• Prepare and review monthly customer statements for accuracy
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior management to identify their departments needs


Qualifications:
• Accounting background
• CPA designation would be considered an asset
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications
• Strong analytical skills for account analysis, reconciliation and strategic planning
• Management and/or supervisory experience
• Knowledge of Budget preparation and analysis
• Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
• Able to work under pressure and meet set deadlines
• Good problem solving skills
• Proficient organizational, communication, time management and prioritizing skills
• Attention to detail in all areas of work

Compensation: Compensation will be based on the chosen candidate’s experience and knowledge.
